Sunday Morning—Each Sunday at 11am the congregation of Abingdon Baptist gathers for worship. The service is thematically structured around the scripture and message for the day. Congregational participation is a priority. A fourfold pattern of worship is generally followed: gathering, hearing the Word, responding to God, sending forth to serve. We draw from a variety of musical styles and genres to create an experience of authentic worship for our congregation. If our worship style must be labeled, the terms traditional with some blended elements would be appropriate. Choirs, the organ and piano play integral parts in the service. The sermon is Bible-based and expositional. There is also a children’s sermon with a Children’s Church for younger worshipers through 3rd grade. A nursery is also provided for children birth through pre-K.
Sunday Table—September to May each year we have a Sunday evening service in our Fellowship Hall starting at 6pm. A snack supper is followed by a time of teaching by our pastor with group discussion around the tables. We are currently working our way through an overview of each Old Testament book. We will begin this study again after Labor Day picking up with Isaiah as we work our way through the prophets this fall.
